October is an ill-famed month in Russia. This week, the last decade of October is devoted to memorial of submariners who served on Kursk. The bodies of captain-lieutenant Dmitry Kozhevnikov and senior lieutenant Alexei Brazhin were raised to the surface on 20 October. Submarine Kursk reached its last mooring on 25 October 2001. Not many expected that this unique operation would come out a success. No submarine has ever been raised from such depth and after such crash. Most companies didn't dare go for it: it was too dangerous, expensive and labour-consuming. Others considered the submarine as the grave of the submariners. Who and how raised the submarine? This film is about responsibility and burden, honour and dignity, courage and fortitude and about tragic and tense days of October of 2000 and 2001.
